Dr Bryony Pearce

MMO Appointee – Marine Environment

Dr Bryony Pearce is an Independent Marine Environmental Consultant with an honours degree in Marine Biology and a PhD entitled “The Ecology of Sabellaria spinulosa Reefs”, both awarded to her by the University of Plymouth.  Bryony has previously been employed as a Director by Marine Ecological Surveys Limited and Gardline Caledonia Limited but now works independently through her own consultancy, Pelagica Limited, based on the Wirral.  Bryony has a strong interest in applied marine research and recently held a post-doctoral research assistant post with Heriot-Watt University investigating the potential restoration of native oyster beds in the Dornoch Firth.

Bryony has over sixteen years’ post graduate experience and has contributed to the Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) of some prestigious developments including the London Gateway Container Port and the proposed Tidal Lagoon in Swansea Bay. Bryony also has extensive experience of working with inshore fisheries including the Lyme Bay Integrated Management Plan and the Solway Firth Creel Fishery Management Trials. Bryony was the lead ecologist on the Defra funded Regional Environmental Characterisation (REC) projects as well as a raft of other research projects focused on the environmental impacts of marine developments and activities, marine planning and marine conservation.
