Consultation – Cockle Fisheries Management Plan

North Western Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority has developed a management plan for its district cockle fisheries. We have created three videos to explain what the plan is about, what it includes, and how you can get involved to provide your views.

Developing a plan helps to set out clear criteria for managing the fishery, and allows stakeholders to see how we make recommendations. The video below explains why we have written a Cockle Fisheries Management Plan and what it includes.

Summary and how to get involved

We would like your views

We are looking to get your views on the plan, in particular, the newly proposed management measures detailed in Part 2.

How to participate

Step 1: Watch the short videos

The Cockle FMP is a large document, and you may not want to read all of it. Therefore, we have created two videos that explain the content of the plan and direct you to parts that might be of interest.

Step 2: Read the document

Read the relevant parts of the document if you want more information.

Step 3: Answer the questionnaire

You can fill out the online questionnaire by clicking the button below, or by calling the office on 01524 727 970

The consultation will be open until March 2026

Use of your data

Why have you asked for my name or permit number for the questionnaire if it is anonymous?

All answers to the questionnaire and issues raised with officers will be confidential. The results of the questionnaire will be presented anonymously to the Authority and as a general summary of the results.

For the consultation to be fair to all stakeholders, we want to reduce the risk of any individual submitting multiple questionnaire responses. Your permit number and name are taken to ensure you contribute only once to the consultation.
