New Netting Permit Applications Launched
North Western IFCA has today launched applications for permits under its forthcoming new Byelaw 7 (Netting Permit Byelaw). Once this Byelaw is confirmed by the Secretary of State, a permit will be required to fish fixed (static) nets anywhere within the district, whether commercially or recreationally, and whether from a vessel or the shore.
For fishers using shore-set intertidal fixed nets to fish commercially, you will also be able to apply for an entitlement to retain bass as a bycatch in one of your nets.
For further details regarding the application process and how to apply, please visit our dedicated Byelaw 7 Application page here.
