Government Bodies

 defra The Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) is responsible for protecting the environment, supporting the food and farming industries, and sustaining the rural economy. They deal with matters such as flooding and animal and plant diseases. Defra provides one third of the North Western Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority’s annual budget.
 enviromental-agency The Environment Agency (EA) is responsible for regulating major industry and waste. They are also responsible for the treatment of contaminated land, water quality and resources, fisheries, inland river, estuary and harbour navigations, and conservation and ecology.
